Crime is a serious problem in South Africa. There is a perception that crime is on a dramatic increase. However we need hard facts to prove this.

Unfortunately the SA Police only publish historic statistical reports (April to March) on an annual basis and these are usually published in September. Crime Spot has the data from these reports from 2003 to 2014. Historical reports can easily be generated by selecting a Precinct and a crime category. Other provinces to be added soon.

I hope to add a “live” section to this site which will enable the public to enter crimes as they happen and these “live” figures can be included in the reports giving the public a better idea of the current situation in an area.

But this will depend on public participation & perhaps input from security companies. (Wouldn't it be great if the SA Police could share their current data)

Suggestions would be much appreciated.
